WELCOME TO
THE PROSTATE LASER CENTRE
The Prostate Laser Centre is a national network of centres dedicated to
Green Light Laser treatment. The enlarged prostate, medically known as
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a very common condition, affecting
one in three men aged over 50.What is Green Light Laser?
Green Light Laser therapy is an innovative, non-invasive procedure which is revolutionizing the treatment of the enlarged prostate. The treatment is delivered using a high powered laser to destroy surplus prostate tissue which is blocking the bladder.
The laser vaporises excess tissue using safe and precise energy pulses. There is very little bleeding, reduced risks of complications and patients can return home within 24 hours.
Is the treatment safe?
Green Light Laser was first performed in the UK in October 2002 and approved by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence in May 2005.Studies show there is no increase in the need for repeat procedures following Green Light Laser and much reduced side effects. Leading centres such as Kings College Hospital in London no longer perform TURP which has now been replaced by Green Light Laser.
